Top Golf Courses in South Florida

When Donald Trump announced that he was literally blowing up the Blue Monster course at Doral Resort and Spa, avid golfers living and visiting in Doral and the surround area stopped for a moment wondering about the alternatives.  Not only do golfers come to the Doral Resort and Spa for vacations, other golfers seek out Doral real estate because of the outstanding golf courses close by.

According to Trump, the plans are to tear up the course and, rather than renovations, give the course an entirely new makeover.  From a recent article in the Miami Herald, “It will be massive construction,” Trump said. “It will be completely done two months before next year’s tournament — it better be.”  He was referring to the WGC-Cadillac Golf Championship played at Doral earlier this month.

But there is no reason to worry!  Miami is home to some of the best golf courses in the country hosting all golfers no matter the level.  One common thread for all golfers is that the “have clubs will travel” rules apply.  So while the Donald tears up the Blue Monster course at Doral, take time to check out these courses that are considered to be the top courses in all of Miami-Dade County.
Doral Golf Resort and Spa.  While the Blue Monster is considered the “mac-daddy” of courses at Doral, there are four other courses designed by golf legends.  Not only do these courses offer challenges and magnificent beauty to their players, they allow Doral home owners the chance to continue to play at local courses and area corporations to continue their tradition of entertaining at Doral.
The Great White Course.  The Great White Course is a Greg Norman signature course and the second best course at Doral.  It has the exclusive characteristic of being the only golf course of its kind in the Southeastern United States to use crushed coquina shells as the primary design element on every hole.

The Gold Course.  Redesigned by PGA Tour legend, Raymond Floyd, the Gold Course is a classic Florida golf course with contoured greens, perfectly placed bunkers, and, of course, water around 16 of the holes.  The claim to fame of this course is the island green on the 18th hole.
The Red Course.  The Red Course is the favorite for corporate events as it is enjoyed by golfers at every skill level.  Additionally, it is typically one of the first courses many golfers when playing golf in Doral.  Because it accommodates every skill level, it is as challenging as anyone wants it to be.

Jim McLean Signature Course.  Located a short distance away from the resort itself is the Jim McLean Signature Course.  This is a truly challenging course that many golfers seek to play.  In addition to some of the toughest holes, this course showcases some of the most exclusive Doral real estate as it traverses through neighborhoods that feature homes with amazing golf course views.
The Biltmore Championship Golf Course.  A short 20-minute drive (less than 9 miles away) from Doral is the legendary Biltmore Hotel and Championship Golf Course.  This drive is well worth its weight in gold for any golfer living in Doral.  This phenomenal golf course is revered as one of the best courses on the East Coast and entertains dignitaries, celebrities and avid golfers who want to be challenged by a championship course.
Turnberry Isle Resort and Club.  Located close to Miami Beach and about a 30-minute drive for Doral home owners are two of the best golf courses in all of Miami-Dade County.  They were originally designed in the early 1970s by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and redesigned in 2007 by Raymond Floyd in a $45 million renovation.  The fairways are lush, green and perfectly manicured for demanding but player friendly golf at every level on the Miller and Soffer courses.
Doral Golfers Have Options
For any golfer looking at Doral real estate, in part, because of the excellent golf courses nearby, there are other premiere courses located around Miami-Dade County that provide challenging and exhilarating rounds of golf.  Add to this the fact that as the winter season in South Florida begins to lighten up, it is a great time to get great deals at top courses throughout the entire area.  Enjoy the day!
